About

Every day in our lives and our work we’re continually managing change. Often we’re adapting to changes introduced to us, and sometimes we’re responsible for introducing changes to others: a team, a department or a whole organization. That’s where you can use these tactics.

The Concept of Transformation Tactics

Every day in our lives and our work we’re continually managing change. Often we’re adapting to changes introduced to us, and sometimes we’re responsible for introducing changes to others: a team, a department or a whole organization. That’s where you can use these tactics.

The History and DevDevelopment of the Card Deck

Since the 1990s we’ve helped clients all around the world with more than 2,500 Change Management projects. The change audiences have ranged from disadvantaged youth in Africa, to leaders of Fortune 100 companies. Regardless of the subject matter of these projects – from cultural shifts to massive digital transformations – we’ve witnessed time and again how people make the same, basic assumption: if we can just communicate the right information, we can get people to adopt the change. But information alone is seldom sufficient.

As Confucius pointed out thousands of years ago: when you tell people things they forget. Minimally you need to show them. Ideally, you need to involve them. That’s how people change. So we kept looking for, finding, and testing transformation tactics: principles for designing experiences that actively involve people.
